Strongly desired by Rector Prof. Carlo Carraro, the Ca' Foscari Alumni Association was promoted by two founding members, Ca' Foscari University Venice and the Ca' Foscari University Foundation.
In recent years, Ca' Foscari has sought to make a remarkable change in the way a modern university is conceived in Italy, looking to international best practices. Studying at Ca' Foscari is no longer just attending classrooms and libraries, but receiving an education of excellence while living a unique experience, within a context that like no other combines art, culture, international openness and exchanges with foreign countries. In the University's intentions, as a Founding Member, Ca' Foscari Alumni constitutes the link between the University and those who have studied there, so as to strengthen and develop the unique experience lived in Venice.
Ca' Foscari University Venice Foundation, the second Founding Member, was established in November 2010 to Enhance, value and develop the activities of the Athenaeum. It represents a modern and effective tool for strengthening ties with the city of Venice, the surrounding area and the world. The Foundation promotes the construction of networks (networking), finding resources to support the University's activities and activate new initiatives (funding) and the enhancement of the name of Ca' Foscari University Venice (branding). Its participation in Ca' Foscari Alumni is intended precisely to achieve the founding purposes of the Foundation itself.
In the start-up phase, the Founding Members have designated a Interim Board of Directors., as an exception to the Statute, composed of only three members. These are the Prof. Leonardo Buzzavo as president, of the Dr. Antonio Zotti in the role of vice president and the Dr. Marco Cosmo as Councilors, who guided the Association in its first year, thus laying the foundations and defining its main characters.
Currently, the Ca' Foscari Alumni Association has grown to have a network of 45,000 contacts, be known in 85 countries around the world and promote about 70 events a year.
